Spot the Fine Print: Read a Bonus Before You Claim

Check the wagering requirement first

Open the bonus terms on the site and locate the wagering requirement. This is the number of times you must bet the bonus amount (or bonus plus deposit) before you can withdraw any winnings. For example, a 35x requirement on a RM100 bonus means you need to place RM3,500 in bets. Lower numbers are better.

If the requirement is calculated on deposit plus bonus (e.g. 30x (deposit + bonus)), the total playthrough is larger. A RM100 deposit with a RM100 bonus would require 30x RM200 = RM6,000. Compare offers across the lobby. Anything above 50x is considered high and will be harder to clear.

Read the game contribution rules

Not all games count equally toward the wagering requirement. Slots usually contribute 100%, but table games like blackjack or baccarat may count only 10% or even 0%. Check the terms for a list of excluded games and contribution percentages. If you prefer live dealer, look for bonuses that include them.

If a game contributes only 20%, you need to bet five times more to clear the same requirement. For instance, a RM1,000 bet on a 20% slot counts as only RM200. Always note which games are restricted. Playing excluded games with an active bonus may void your winnings and the bonus itself.

Look at the maximum bet limit

Most welcome bonuses cap the amount you can bet per round while the bonus is active. Common limits are RM10 to RM30 per spin or hand. If you exceed this limit, the site may void your bonus and any winnings. Find this rule in the terms before you start playing.

Check whether the limit applies to a single bet or to a combination of bets. Some platforms count split bets in table games as one bet. If you like to place higher stakes, look for a bonus with a RM50 or higher max bet. Ignoring this rule is one of the most common reasons bonuses are forfeited.

Verify the minimum deposit and eligible payment method

The site will state a minimum deposit to qualify, usually between RM10 and RM50. Depositing less means no bonus. Check which payment methods are eligible. E-wallets like Touch 'n Go, GrabPay, and Boost are often accepted, but some bonuses exclude bank transfers. Use an e-wallet to ensure eligibility.

If you deposit RM30 via bank transfer and the bonus only works for e-wallet deposits, you will not receive the offer. Always read the terms under "Payment Method Restrictions" or "Qualifying Deposits." The platform will usually list accepted methods. When in doubt, choose Touch 'n Go or DuitNow.

Find the expiry date and withdrawal conditions

Every bonus has a time limit to meet the wagering requirement. Common durations are 7 to 30 days from the moment the bonus is credited. If you do not complete the playthrough in time, the bonus and any winnings are removed. Set a reminder to track your progress in the lobby.

Withdrawal conditions matter too. Some sites require a minimum balance before you can cash out, for example RM50. Others may cap the maximum withdrawal from bonus winnings, such as 10x the bonus amount. Read the "Withdrawal Limits" section. If the cap is too low, the bonus may not be worth claiming.
